Raj Bhattacharyya is the CEO of Robertson Stephens, a national, independent wealth management firm with offices in New York, San Francisco and six other locations around the country.

Prior to this role, Raj spent two years as an active investor in and mentor to early stage companies, primarily in the fintech space, something he continues to do in his spare time now.

Previously, he had spent 25 years in the capital markets side of the financial industry, most recently at Deutsche Bank where he led several businesses over 17 years that included the Foreign Exchange and Emerging Markets businesses in the Americas (2015 to 2018), Capital Markets and Treasury Solutions for Western Europe (2010 - 2015) and Debt Capital Markets and Derivative Sales in North America (2001 - 2010). Raj has also served as the Vice Chairman of the board for the Emerging Markets Trading Association and as a member of Deutsche Bank's Global Investment Banking Executive Committee. Raj also spent 5 years at Merrill Lynch in derivatives sales, and 3 years at Goldman Sachs in Quantitative Research.

Raj graduated in 1993 from SEAS (then the Division of Applied Sciences) at Harvard College with a concentration in Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering. He sits on the Board of Directors of Strive for College, a non-profit which connects aspiring college students with free, one-on-one, online mentoring through the entire college admissions and financial aid application process. He is also very actively involved in SEAS at Harvard. He lives in New York City where he has lived since he graduated from college except for four years (2011-2015) when he lived in London.
