The Harvard University Lavender Graduation Ceremony is a virtual pre-commencement celebration open to all students and acknowledges graduates who identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and will take place on Monday, May 24th at 5pm edt.
This inaugural University-wide event is part of a pilot initiative to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of graduating LGBTQIA+ students. The ceremony will include opportunities for students to provide reflections as well as be recognized during a name and photo presentation. The event will also feature welcome remarks from Sherri Charleston, Harvard University Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and the presentation of the inaugural Evelynn Hammonds Award for Exceptional Service to BGLTQ+ Inclusion to Dr. Bruce Churchill and the BGLTQ Treatment Team at Harvard University Health Services.
